Spring is sort of in the air! These little doses of warmer temps have me ready for the permanent shift in the season! With each new season, not only do I like to take an inventory of my closet, but I also like to take a look at what makeup I have in my beauty bag and toss what is old, what is outdated, or things that I simply don’t use anymore.
I usually like to do this when the seasons change from winter to spring, and then summer to fall. The reason for this is mainly because most spring beauty trends carry over into the summer, and fall into the winter. Make sense? I am going to share with you some of my favorite beauty trends for the spring/summer that you should expect to see!
1. Orange Lips: This is a little out of my comfort zone, as I usually wear nudes or berry colors on my lips, or just plain chapstick. ( I am a Plain Jane when it comes to my lips I guess). For this trend, I would love to try a lip gloss, preferably a more sheer one! A subtle way to incorporate the trend into my look! Here are three options for you: Bare Minerals Marvelous Moxie in Bright Melon, Revlon ColorBurst Matte Balm in Audacious, and my particular favorite, Maybelline Color Elixir Lip Color in Mandarin Rapture.
2. Glowing Skin: This is a relief for me, as my skin is naturally glowing from time to time (aka-oily)! Finally! Really though, the dewy, glowing look is pretty easy to fake if you have particularly dry or normal skin. Cream blush is a great tool to use to give you that look. Highlighters and bronzers also give you the same glowing effect. I love Benefit’s High Beam– it adds a soft, natural glow. Urban Decay’s Baked Bronzer is another alternative. Not only does it give you a little glow, but it gives you extra color as well! Perfekt Cheek Perfection Gel is also pretty great- the gel gives a hint of natural color and highlights your cheeks!
3. Au Naturale. This is by far my favorite! As much as I love to wear makeup, some days it just feels so great to wear very little to no makeup at all. It is a breath of fresh air, and gives your skin a chance to breath a little bit!
Starting out with a tinted BB cream gives you subtle coverage, a natural look, and even protects your skin! A concealer should be applied next for any blemishes and/or dark circles, followed by a powder, if need be! A blush for a little color (or any of the items I chatted about above for a glowing, natural look), and finally a tinted lip balm! Your final look will be just-rolled-out-of-bed beautiful, glowing, and natural!
What spring beauty trends are you looking forward to? Blue eye shadows, cat eyes (maybe this will be the year I finally get it right?) and streamlined, sleek pony’s are also on the radar for beauty trends!
