To learn more about setting up goal-based accounts and working with a financial advisor – you can check out Farther’s 2021 Financial Checklist which helps us understand priorities. In the meantime, here are some of our favorite tips.

1. Make a Budget & Know Your Priorities
Budgeting can be stressful. For others it is so fun! It’s just really important to know where every dime is going. Setting a weekly, monthly or yearly budget can really help you feel empowered and in control of your finances. Farther can help walk you thru and tackle your budgeting.
2. SAVE, SAVE, SAVE
For some it’s so incredibly hard and you are living paycheck to paycheck while trying to start your own biz. Or maybe you are working hard to save for multiple investments. NO matter what it may be, saving can be hard. But it’s so incredibly important and the number one thing you can do to decrease stress. You must have a “back up” fund! You never know when your car may break down.
One of my favorite tips is to remember to PAY YOURSELF FIRST. When you get paid, you should immediately take 10% from your paycheck and pay yourself first then pay your bills. You work hard right? Therefore you should always make this a rule to pay yourself first and help you set it aside for savings. Set up an automatic transfer to bill pay yourself.
3. Plan Your Meals & Make Eating Out a Treat
Have you ever added up all of the fast food and eating out you do in a week? Even your $4 coffee runs add up! Of course everyone loves eating out and ordering curbside these days during a pandemic but it adds up. Treat yourself occasionally and you will be shocked how much you save!
4. Seek Out Professional Help
You might think you have mastered all things money and budgeting but believe it not, it always helps to have a professional. We can all benefit from a little advice! When meeting with Farther, do your research and take a tour of what they offer. Gather you notes, your goals and write down exactly what you need help with understanding for your future. Your future will thank you!
