‘Tis the season, friends! The season for flour and spice, for baking and sharing, for hugs and gifts.
If you’ve followed my posting here on CupcakeMAG, or over at my own blog, {Re}visionary Life, you’ve probably picked up on the fact that making food and making it pretty is a love of mine. I’m sure that comes from my mother. “Presentation is everything Susanna!”, my mother would always say as she arranged the table fare just so. But above her preoccupation with presentation comes her passion for giving. There’s a special kind of joy that comes from sharing the handmade goods from your kitchen with others, whether over your dinning room table or hand delivered to your next door neighbor.
It’s amazing what a few pieces of brown paper bags, a couple of eggs cartons, some scraps of fabric, and twine will do to dress up simple pumpkin bread and muffins. So don’t throw out the cardboard tote your tomatoes came in {Trader Joe’s has great produce containers}, or toss your paper bags. Hang on to those sturdy {unstained} egg cartons and up-cycle them with a bit of fabric and twine. Maybe add a little tag in your own handwriting. The effect of your personal touch won’t be lost on the recipient, believe me.
