I am a stay-at-home turned work-from-home Wife and Mom of three young children (whom I love and adore). After unsuccessfully searching for the right Christmas gift for our kids a few years ago, I knew I could create something better than what was on the market.

sweet whimsy designs began in 2009 with knitted goods but quickly turned into something different – fun and whimsical pieces of playable art for people of all ages. From character sets to wedding cake toppers, custom families and carnival sets to pirate ships and castles, the possibilities at swd are endless! Peg dolls fit perfectly in the palm of your hand (or in the bottom of your purse), making them a great on-the-go toy kids love and the perfect cake or cupcake topper to celebrate a special occasion. I try my best to source all supplies – from wood to paint to packaging – through small shops and businesses here in the USA. All paints & sealants are non-toxic which ease the minds of parents with little ones. Peg dolls come in many shapes & sizes appropriate for all different ages.

I am quite passionate about my work so a tad of perfectionism mixed with a lot of love equals unique, quality hand-painted works of art. I take great pride in the craftsmanship and detail in the pieces I create. Custom requests are my fave! It is so much fun to collaborate with customers to design something one-of-a-kind and watch the magic unfold.

Even before day one, I have been inspired by other bloggers and shop owners around the globe. Social media is so fantastic! One of my biggest accomplishments with this business is being able to give back to such a great community. I do so by donating 5% of my sales each month to a charity close to my heart, often found through various web links & Instagram users whom I follow. In addition, I give back by donating peg dolls and sets to auction for families in need and to raise money for charitable causes.

I’m so proud that I am able to maintain my stay-at-home Mom status while running this growing business solo. I work mostly during naps and at night while I homeschool our children during the day (although I believe every moment is a learning experience for little ones). There is sure to be something exciting happening in the Sweet house on any given day!

Life is a constant journey toward balance. Sometimes it takes trial & error to find our niche. If we can do what you love and love what we do, well, I’d say we’ve found the right formula for maintaining a happy life. I’m here doing just that, loving this ‘sweet’ little business of mine. I’d like to think love shows in swd’s work.
