Soft bibdanas and graphic tees for littles are all the rage these days, and when we ran across Bonnie and her new line of modern tees at Mawdsley Loves, well, we just couldn’t keep them to ourselves! I’m a new mom last year to Malcolm (Mawdsley is his middle name – and the name of the place where my hubby and I first met over 10 years ago). Before becoming a SAHM and a shop owner, my background is fashion. I worked at the head office of a large Canadian fashion retailer for almost 10 years so my passion has always been style, clothes and fashion. When my little guy came around, it was a MUST HAVE that he wore stuff that was stylish (in my eyes of course) but most importantly FUNCTIONAL.
That is how my shop and all my products come to be – out of pure necessity for me to dress my little guy in stuff that I wanted to see him in! That’s why (although there will always be staples) new products get introduced to the store. As he grows and his needs change, so do mine, and so do the products in the store.
So, my inspiration is him – my style inspiration for the shop is pulled out of magazines, runway and really is based on pieces that I would be happy wearing myself. I see prints or sayings in my head only make it in the shop if i would wear them!
My products stand out for two reasons. First, style: the products are for kids, but you aren’t going to get cutesie elephants hugging, or owls cooing. These are prints that are going to be on trend and a certain aesthetic that is unique to MawdselyLoves. Second, quality: I am so picky and since I am making every single item that is ever sent out, it is not going out the door unless the quality and product is at a level that I would put on my Malcolm!
