Wild Frays: Pretty Blankets and Throws

Sup everybody! My name is Amanda, wife to a babe, mother of 2 amazing girls and owner of Wild Frays.

I started this small business while pregnant with my first daughter, Blake. The shop has changed quite a bit in the past 4 years. It started out as hair bows that doubled as bow ties and that slowly morphed into toddler/baby scarves and now i have found my niche making minky baby blankets and adult throws! I wanted to open up this business because I was a stay at home mom but also wanted something for myself. I wanted to feel like I was contributing to the family as well as my husband.

I actually just started making these minky blankets about 5 months ago and so far they have been a huge hit! I can’t take credit for the over 70 different fabric patterns listed in my shop, but each blanket is handmade by me in my home with the utmost care. And usually during nap time and/or bedtime while my 2 little girls are asleep :)

Currently I offer two different styles of blankets. There are the blankets that have the fabric pattern on the front and an ivory rosette embossing on the back. Both sides are 100% plush minky. SO, so soft. And the second style is the double-sided minky blankets – where each side of the blanket has the fabric print of your choice instead of the rosette embossing. I also offer adult size throws as well for the parents that want to get their cuddles and snuggles on too!

And while having a small business is not lucrative by any means, I really love just creating and hearing the amazing feedback from customers. That’s the best part. Seeing what I made in action with their adorable littles and reading what people think is really the best feeling. My ultimate goal is to be able to create the fabric patterns on top of making the actual blanket, I’m not quite there yet but one day I will be! Until then, you’ll find me on my sewing machine busting out minky blanket after minky blanket while still finding time to be wife, mama and friend.
