Three Denim Styles Here to Stay

If you are anything like me, you have an obsession with denim. You can never have too many pairs of jeans, am I right? I am always anxious to see what trends will come and go as far as denim. There are some that seem to stand the test of time (I’m looking at you, skinny jeans) while other comes and go, like the flare trend (which reminds me, if only I kept-and could still fit into-my flare jeans from high school)!

To me, there are three trends that I have been seeing a lot of lately, ones that have been standing out above others. I am particularly fond of these and don’t plan on seeing them disappear any time soon!

STEP HEMThere is something I love about a step hem. I feel like they pair really well with ankle booties, ballet flats and slip on sneakers. I am about 5’4” and although I am not super short, I find that even regular length jeans are a tad long on me. I find myself cuffing them a lot-not that it’s a bad thing! Sometimes, ankle length are too short for me, too! That’s why the idea of a step hem (short in the front longer in the back…like a mullet! HA!) appeals to me! I have a pair of jeans that I am actually turning into a step hem this weekend- hopefully it turns out well!

OVERALLSI really wish I didn’t get rid of mine from when I was a teenager-not that I would fit into them now but a girl can dream, right? I love the comeback these are making. I purchased a less expensive pair a couple of years ago- that’s how I roll when it comes to things that I think are “trendy.” I tend to buy the less expensive version- I am not about to spend a lot of money on something I may only wear once! Fast forward a couple of years and they are still here and holding strong! These particular ones have been pretty popular-I hear they are super comfortable. The price is a little steep (for me, at least) but from what I have heard they are worth every penny!

My favorite overalls that I’ve had for a couple of year’s now! I love the look of them with a basic tee!

HIGH RISE/VINTAGEI personally love the high rise trend. I feel like it is something that people either love or hate. While jeans this high used to be considered “mom jeans,” they are now being worn by women of all ages, mom or not. Along with the whole high rise trend I have been seeing more and more of a vintage, worn in, almost rough texture to denim. Don’t get me wrong, I am still seeing a lot of the jegging, stretchy type jeans, but this whole vintage style is slowly creeping into first. I definitely prefer more stretch to my jeans-I mean, I am a Mom….stretch just works with my life-I do love the look of more vintage, worn in (not so much distressed) jeans. Levi’s in particular has a great selection of high rise!

What denim trends are your favorite? Least favorite? I love how it differs so much from gal to gal!
