I know I’m not the only one that tries to grab time by the face on a daily basis and make it stop. So I wanted to share with you a few tricks I’ve picked up along the way (the-insomnia-anxiety-having-way) to make the most out of those quiet moments that we do solemnly get.

Not only have I discovered a few products to help “get my mind right” but I’ve also picked up on a few techniques too! Working for Loved By Hannah And Eli, Wrenn Jewelry and doing what I can for cupcakeMAG, time is a thing of the past. Thankfully I like to think that doing these few things daily help my focus, mindset and well being overall.

Let’s just break it down

Sleep Better

1. Use a Lavender Spray. I have fallen for Malouf’s Lavender Aromatherapy Spray. I’ve learned the essential oils of lavender in the aromatherapy spray offer many benefits to contribute to deep, relaxing sleep, skincare, and hair care (what more can you ask for?!). Recent studies suggest the scent of lavender increases concentration, stabilizes mood response and brings relief to those with sleep disorders. So we know it’s a game changer, especially if you have that little insomnia guy running around in your head.

2. Breathe. Sleeping pills can’t be healthy to use every single day for the rest of your life, can they? I’m not a doctor so I began looking into natural ways I could get myself to just chill. Who would have thought? It’s as easy as breathing. At night, before bed – concentrate on your breath. I’ve picked up on a technique that never fails, start by breathing in for 3 seconds & then out for 3 seconds, in for 4 seconds and then out for 4 seconds… do this until you drift off. The highest I ever remember getting to is 7 seconds… and then I’m off to dreamland.

Press Pause

1. Unplug. As hard as it may seem, think of how good it can be for your brain, your eyes, your family, your significant other and your soul. Even if it is just for 30 minutes a day, try it. I dare you.

2. Try meditation. I know that this is not for everyone. Honestly, I never thought it was for me. I love yoga & always have but when I’m not able to shake work from my mind & its 1AM – meditation answers my call. After trying it on my own & not really getting into a deep meditative state, I decided to turn the good ol’ iPad where I discovered Yoga by Candace. Candace’s 30 Minute Restorative Yoga & Meditation video is my go-to, I know the “routine” by heart BUT her voice reminds you to focus on what matters during meditation & that, I love.

Have in your Home

1. Fresh flowers. Having fresh flowers around will always make you think of how beautiful life is. No matter what even when you have nothing, do remember that you have this beautiful planet, that makes all this life possible. Just watching flowers bloom from one day to the next, it’s a gift in itself. Be sure to watch it happen…. yes, I’m telling you to stop and smell the roses :)

2. Candles. When you are winding down, put a candle on your bedside candle & light it. Even if it is for 10 minutes, relax in the dark with just the flame as your light. The calming effect of candlelight is simple yet a sacred tool to help reduce stress and increase self-awareness. Candles and tranquility go hand in hand. My go to candles? Downtown Candle Co. Their smells make my whole apartment smell like my cleaning lady came yesterday… she hasn’t been here in 12 days. And guess what? They even have an Aromatherapy collection. You can thank me later.
