Where to start with Lapisbeach?
Well, I am a total knitting nerd. I have loved knitting and having two needles in my hands since my Grandmother re-taught me how to knit when I was in graduate school. I adore the art of knitting and I love jewelry – after of years designing and knitting with yarn, I decided to combine my love of these two things and lapisbeach was born.
I think color inspires me the most, along with elements of design and texture. I am obsessed with clean lines and tension is very important to me with my craft. I started knitting with soft fiber and tiny beads, but over the years the shop has evolved. I love working with the wire & of course all beads, gemstones and pearls. I adore the hard edge the wire creates. It takes the traditional knitted stitch in a modern direction.
Every single piece is hand strung and hand knit by me! The pieces are contemporary & structured, yet feminine. They are versatile pieces that can transition seamlessly from day to night and the line continues to evolve. I have a total addiction to buying beads and create new color mixes on a regular basis. I also continue to dream up new pieces and write new patterns so there is always something fresh in the shop. I absolutely love what I do and feel so fortunate to have such lovely clients who “collect” my pieces of wearable art!
