One on One with Little Adi Co

One of the many perks of working with so many amazing companies is we get to go behind the scenes for you and get the scoop on them! One of our favorites is Little Adi + Co. and we have Adrianne here to share with you a little about her fave pieces in her line, go to brands for her kiddos, and how to keep it all balanced!

How did you line start? And where did the name come from?
Little Adi + Co. took form when my son was 10 weeks old. I struggled to find “cool” baby boy clothing when I was pregnant. I’m a fashion designer by trade and always knew I wanted to have my own business one day. I just didn’t know the what, when, and why and those are the things you should kind of know before starting anything this big. I had this “aha” moment while rocking him to sleep one night. All of a sudden the questions were answered and everything just made perfect sense. Becoming a first time mom opened up a whole new world for me, both as a person, a woman, a wife, and a professional. My son became my biggest inspiration – he gave me what I needed to take this on head first, leaving any fear I had behind. Being a cautious person by nature, I always tend to overthink situations to make sure I have it all figured out. I have a HUGE fear of failure. When it came to starting Little Adi, none of that seemed to matter. I just knew this was what needed to happen and it needed to happen right now. It only seemed appropriate to name the brand after my son, Aden Rhys. His first week home from the hospital we started calling him Little Adi Rhys, which is the Little Adi part. We added “+ Co.” to include the rest of our family, both present and future…..the rest of the company you could say.

What is your favorite piece in your current or upcoming collection?
Our bummy shorts have been a huge hit for us. They just so happen to be our favorite as well. I think my favorite print is our Sun-bleached Camo bummies. They’re incredibly soft and right on trend. The Camo bummies just scream Summer – surf, sun, and sand – and they go with pretty much anything.

What are your top 3 go-to Kids brands?
For Aden, I love Prefresh. They’re like tees for little men and I love that. We live near the beach, (I was also born and raised a beach kid, it just runs in our veins), so I tend to buy a lot of Quiksilver trunks for him. I also love to support small business whenever possible. There are SO many good ones, but I can’t stop buying Tiny Whales. They really stand apart and the new line is killer.

How have your kids inspired your creativity?
Being a designer, I thought I always knew my customer and what they wanted, but it wasn’t until I had my own child, that I can honestly say I understand what the need in the market is. Knowing what I want for Aden and not being able to find it in the marketplace led me to start Little Adi. My son, Aden inspires everything I do for Little Adi. I like to say that if I wouldn’t put it on Aden, you won’t find it in our shop. This is true for 95% of what you see at Little Adi + Co.

How do you manage both a family and your brand? What is your advice to other mom creative professionals?
Honestly, I’m not really sure! It does get overwhelming and some days are really hard, but as much as Little Adi means to me, my son and my family ultimately come first. As long as that stays the focus and Little Adi remains fun and fresh, I think we’ll be fine. My advice to other moms would be to not try to be everything to everyone. I’m guilty of this as well, but one thing I learned is if you keep things in balance, know what takes priority and always do what makes you happy, you CAN have it all.
