One of my favorite types of shoes to wear is a good wedge heel! I can get around easier than putting on a pair of pumps so I find myself wearing them more regularly just out and about.  They make me the height I need to be, my jeans look better, and are super cute!

When the warm weather comes around….my obsession with wedges reaches it’s all time high…and espadrille’s tend to take over my closet!

Color Blocking can be found almost anywhere right now and in a variety of choices from bold to simple neutrals! Either way you wear it, and no matter what piece you wear it on…colorblocking is a trend to enjoy this summer!

I am super-excited to be able to share our “sit-down” with you to let you get to know Paula and her beautiful sweet shoppe, Frog Prince Paperie.

1.) Please tell us about yourself and your {sweet shoppe}?

After I had my kids, I decided to “retire” from my marketing job and be a stay-at-home mom and enjoy the baby years with my two wonderful children, Madeline (5) and Brennan (2). We were in a very small town at the time, and I found I needed a little more than baby talk all day.  So with not much else to do locally, I turned into a work-at-home mom when I started my “part-time” business in March 2010.

Frog Prince Paperie grew out of my son’s 1^st birthday party…… and grew and grew! From just me, Frog Prince has grown to me plus three amazing women that help me day in and day out. We all love helping the DIY party planner add a little kiss of magic to her celebration by providing party printables. Frog Prince also has a website where we like to divvy up inspiration for fabulous DIY party styling and give entertainment tips in general.

2.) Do you have a favorite party you have styled?

Definitely my daughter’s WISH party for her 5^th birthday. It was the party of her dreams, and it was fun watching her be so excited about it! The colors and little details were so feminine and magical, I loved walking around the house that week in all the sparkle.

3.) What is the current bestseller in your Etsy shop?

The Little Birdie Baby Shower complete party set. Birds are a huge trend in baby showers right now, and the soft palette and pretty patterns make it a great seller!

4.) If you could style any party for a celebrity, who would it be and why?

Kate Winslet. She strikes me as a down-to-earth mom with great sense of humor, and my favorite parties are those that are just a little quirky and witty. Styling for someone like that would appreciate that kind of party would be a blast! Plus I’m sure she would insist on flying me to England to get the job done.

5.) What tips do you have for planning a perfect event?

My first tip would be to roll with things when they go wrong! We all aim for perfect, but don’t let small oopsies ruin your enjoyment of your event. Parties are about having fun, after all!

Second, to make your party look more perfect, pick two or three colors (the fewer the better!) and stick to those in a range of tones. It will make everything look cohesive and pleasing to the eye.

6.) What is up next for you and your shop?

We’re in planning for a few great photo-shoots this spring and have a few surprises up our sleeves. There may even be an e-glossy in our future!

Make the invite a work of art, because this one by Monkey Doodle Designs, really is! Adding a framed invite adds flair to your party.

Forget paper and plastic! Find cermaics and pottery that match your theme but not perfectly. We mixed and mattered patterns with a polka dot platter from Owl Creek Ceramics {you remember this from The Party Dress shoot} and beautiful stripped pottery piece from Kristine Cravens Pottery. This makes a Littles party a little extra chic.

Dont’ get the cupcakes to matchy matchy, instead opt for red velvet or strawberry shortcake and pull inspiration from the cupcake toppers. Also by, Monkey Doodle Designs.

Use black and white striped fabric from Waverly for a backdrop or table cover.

And always remember, as Olivia says, Rule of Life #138: EAT CAKE!

You may recall my little sneak peek and details earlier this month all about our Titanic Soriee!  Inspired by the Titanic – we wanted a modern party and a sprinkle of vintage. Pairing the bright turquoise + pink color combo to the modern mixing vintage feel really inspired the entire party which centered around the invitation from WH Hostess. Well now, we have all the details on just how we made the party come to life! You may recall reading all about it on The Party Dress blog but, we are sharing it once again here.

First, we have to share with you a little something any Jack & Rose fan longs for – Titanic pendent and chain from Pretty Whimsical – perfect for celebrating the 100th anniversary of that very sad day but a way to always remember a spectacular movie

Paper Pretties: The beautiful banner with the birthday girls name, Food Tends, Stickers, Cupcake Toppers, and all the paper pretties were custom designed by the lovely Kelly. How amazing did she do? Seriously, the invite is still framed in my 9 year old’s room!

Each guest sat down to their WH Hostess placecard being held with a simple holder from Homes and Weddings. We mixed paper plate pretties with vintage plates and teacups along with a Juliska Goblet {win them below!}  – all on top of adorable Anchor Place mats.The tables wouldn’t be complete without the Anchor Place mats from The Fortunate Home and cocktail napkins. It was great that we were able to customize them with our theme! Polka Dot Market also had the perfect striped pendents which we placed into chocolates for easy picking and polka dot plates. Magnolia Creative Co. hand-painted the beautiful square platters that were perfect for pretty cookies and chocolates. To tie in the elegance of the Titanic, we used Juliska {enter to win below!} goblets, stacking bowls and a charge. We placed rustic LOVE candle holders throughout with silver trays along with an assortment of milk glass vases and vintage Etsy find like the Trinket Box – so beautiful & perfect for this theme. Make sure you shop the shoot below for all the details on how to get the look!

Favors: Centered around a LOVE burlap banner, each guest received lots of goodies! We printed a ticket to the event as each guest arrived. They were wrapped in lace will a full-size candy bar. We picked up small vintage frames from Michael’s and framed the titanic ship stickers designed by Kelly — that way each guest took a little memory home after the special day! Monogram cookies from Fun Favors were given to guest as they left along with Edward Marc Ice Cream Pop chocolates.

Tips for a Titanic Theme Party!

 Lace: We placed lace throughout the party. Across the plates, around the favors, tied around the chairs – this gave it that touch of vintage sparkle.

Old is New: I shopped my house and my grandmothers too! It was a great way to make vintage pieces new again with Milk Glass vases, vintage plates, tea cupcakes and more. You won’t believe what is right in front of you! Just because it’s a party doesn’t mean you have to shop at just the party store! Be creative.

Formal Attire: We asked guests to dress in their Sunday’s best! They had a dance off as the Titanic soundtrack played in the background, along with a fashion show! We had 3 judges who choose the best dressed at the party. Winners received $10 gift cards to Target. It was so fun to see everyone dressed up! We had lots of fascinators for guest to wear and really get into character.

Mason Jars: We rolled mason jars in glue and glitter! They made the perfect place for Pinwhirls custom-designed pinwheels and looked great on the table!

CM: How excited are you to give readers another book, and this time – your passion, parties?

Tori: I’ve been wanting to write a party planning book for years. I was so excited when the timing worked out. This book was truly a labor of love. I’m all about the details so I was so excited to plan and style all the 4 parties in the book and be able to also share pics of my collections, DIY tips, and recipes thru out the book.

Yes! I’m starting my 4th memoir now. And, my new crafting competition series “Craft Wars” on TLC premieres June 26th. I’m EP and host. So excited for it!
