My name is Tara, owner behind Red Velvet Treasures. My husband introduced me to making handmade soy candles as a hobby. It wasn’t anything fancy, he would use old spaghetti sauce jars and random things around the home. Then we started making candles for our friends and family as gifts. When we saw their excitement with what we had created, I talked about having them listed in an online shop and that is how Red Velvet Treasures got started. Red Velvet Treasures is a mixture of handmade and wholesale items. I launched Red Velvet Treasures in December 2013 and I have had an amazing journey and have met so many great people along the way.
I try to keep my shop stocked with crafty products I think my customers will love. I currently have washi tape, fold over elastic, and newly introduced fabric adhesive tape. I was introduced to washi tape when I filled in for my aunt at a card club and fell in love. I did some research and decided to offer this product in my shop. I try to introduce new and exciting designs of washi tape to my shop every month. I did some research and noticed there wasn’t very many coffee designs, and who doesn’t love coffee? So recently, I have worked with a supplier and designed my own coffee print washi tape that is exclusive to my shop. This was very exciting for Red Velvet Treasures and I am hoping to do this again in the future.
Currently I am working with Alison and Ben from Project Leo William &. This is a non-profit organization that sends boxes of sunshine to families who have lost their children, similar to their situation. “The goal is to make them feel loved, supported and surrounded by light.” I have listed in my shop “Project Leo William & Candles” and 100% of the proceeds go towards this organization. I couldn’t be more honored to be a part of something so wonderful.
What makes my shop different from others? I always think about my customers when placing an item in my shop. I try and remember if a customer suggests something to grab it when I see it available. I also always love to put an extra “gift” in their packages as a way to say “thank you”. After all, who doesn’t love something extra?! I love to see the reflection of how I am doing from my 5 star rating and wonderful customer reviews.
