ABOUT KINDRED OAK

After more than 9 years in the fashion industry and upper management, I started making children’s clothes for my newborn son, on a new-found $15 sewing machine from Craigslist; I was frustrated with the lack of fashion-forward children’s wear (especially for boys), and anything I did find seemed stiff and uncomfortable, so I took matters into my own hands.

With a little less than $100, Kindred OAK was started in order to fulfill the need I had to find suitable clothing for my son, and also my new role as a mother. With support from a great team, I now create fashion-forward designs that offer moms and kids a unique alternative to mass-produced women’s pieces and generic child-prints; OAK Clothing is a special every-day brand that embodies the new relationship between a mother and child, presenting designs that are both comfortable and stylish, and has been featured on top fashion blogs and websites such as babiekins.com, kellimurray.com, babble.com, the Etsy Blog, and now, cupcakemag.com. :)

I love pulling inspiration from events in our every-day life, different patterns and textiles I find in fabrics, and the natural elements around us, and my son often has a final say on whether or not certain pieces “make the cut”; I want to make sure, as a child, he loves them before letting anyone else put them on their own babes. The same goes for our women’s items; I try to keep pieces clean, simple, fashionable, and comfortable. As a mother , I know how important these things are when choosing clothing, and I would never sell something I wouldn’t wear myself.
