Happy October lovelies!
Another month means another book club post and a new book selection for the next month! Last month, we had an overwhelming number of votes for “If I Stay” by Gayle Forman. If you aren’t familiar with the book, or the recent movie version, here is a quick snippet to catch you up…
“Choices. Seventeen-year-old Mia is faced with some tough ones: Stay true to her first love—music—even if it means losing her boyfriend and leaving her family and friends behind?
Then one February morning Mia goes for a drive with her family, and in an instant, everything changes. Suddenly, all the choices are gone, except one. And it’s the only one that matters.
If I Stay is a heartachingly beautiful book about the power of love, the true meaning of family, and the choices we all make.”
Now, I haven’t seen the movie yet, but I plan to soon. I’ve had this book sitting on my bookshelf since college and I never read it. I would always look at it, pick it up and read the back cover, then put it back down and move on to a book that I had already read before. I am so sad that I haven’t read this book before now! I absolutely loved it! I am such a sucker for a story that makes you cry, and this one definitely made me tear up. I would love to know your thoughts on the story and the movie! Did you like the way the movie portrayed the story? Which did you like better? Comment below or use #CMBookClub!
For November’s book club selection, I want you to choose! Let’s see which books get the most recommendations and then we will go from their. Each tweet or IG post will count as a vote as well as each comment, so get to voting! I’ll announce the winner with next weeks post and IG and Twitter so make sure you’re following along!
