Hello lovelies! It’s book club night! I hope you enjoyed reading Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell and I would absolutely LOVE to hear your thoughts on it in the comments below or on social media using #cmbookclub.
The Skinny: For those of you who didn’t get to read along this month, here is a quick summary:
“Two misfits.
One extraordinary love.Eleanor… Red hair, wrong clothes. Standing behind him until he turns his head. Lying beside him until he wakes up. Making everyone else seem drabber and flatter and never good enough…Eleanor.
Park… He knows she’ll love a song before he plays it for her. He laughs at her jokes before she ever gets to the punch line. There’s a place on his chest, just below his throat, that makes her want to keep promises…Park.
Set over the course of one school year, this is the story of two star-crossed sixteen-year-olds—smart enough to know that first love almost never lasts, but brave and desperate enough to try.”
My Thoughts: Oh man, as i’ve mentioned before, I absolutely LOVE young adult literature. This book gave me all the feels. Maybe it’s the pregnancy hormones or maybe i’ve just turned into one big softy (I swear I never used to cry) but I got a bit teary eyed at the story of these two. It was like a flashback to my teen years, which definitely weren’t all kittens and roses, but it gave me that warm, fuzzy feeling of good memories. I won’t give away the ending in case you are still trying to finish up, but it is sooooooo good in a painfully, awesomely, happy, sad, mad, love-dovie sort of way (if that even makes sense).
If you missed this months book, read along with us next month when I talk about Attachments by Rainbow Rowell (I feel a trend coming on here, but her books are FABULOUS!)
