A Nursery for a Little Niece

My younger sister is expecting her first little girl at the end of July and to say I am excited is a serious understatement. I’m beyond thrilled for her!! When she told me she wanted to put this gorgeous Monet piece in her daughters room I think my heart skipped a beat a little actually. It is just so perfect for a little girl’s room, the towering sunflowers, the glorious colors, the sweet innocent little one. Talk about a gorgeous piece of inspiration!!

This is a preliminary inspiration board for the nursery. That’s usually how it starts… some inspiration, colors, key pieces of furniture to help set the groundwork for the space. Once we have all of that nailed down we can move onto the fun little details such as blankets, bedding, and decorative pieces. Although I couldn’t help it… I had to put the mobile in there. It seems to be the basis of the color selection. And that blue chair, seriously, it is to die for in person!

My goal is to create a feminine, classy nursery that reflects a childlike atmosphere without sacrificing a sense of elegance. I want to create a nursery that while being sophisticated and timeless is also trendy and girly. By using a mix of light pinks, corals, and blues in a number of classic geometric patterns the perfect amount of girliness is created. Accenting with a metallic gold, a certain level of sophistication is hoped to be reached.

Any thoughts? We’re still in the early steps of designing the space and I am so excited to see how it all turns out and the direction it takes! What would you change?
