Designing any space takes time and many different versions. Choices are given, decisions made, ideas are changed. It’s an ever going process… Helping my sister with her nursery is no different. We’ve moved on from the first version to a second with a few changes based on a number of different reasons. (See original design HERE.)
We’ve decided to make a few changes to some of the furniture mainly. One of my philosophies with furniture in a home is to purchase things that can be used throughout your house. Let it be something that can be recycled from one room to another so you can get the most out of it.
For example, I have a couple pieces, shelves actually, that have traveled around my house. They began in my bedroom, then for awhile they were used in my living room, and now they’ve been moved to my little boys room. In each space they have been accessorized differently and used for slightly different purposes but I’ve for sure been able to get the most out of them.
We wanted to do the same thing for my sister. So we decided to go with a chair that she already has one of so when the time comes that she no longer needs a chair in her baby’s room, it can be paired with the original to create a pair. The dresser as well is in the same colorway as the majority of her furniture so it can be moved to her own bedroom or another space if needed.
What do you think of the changes? Do you have any furniture that has “traveled” around your home?
