Busy. Busy. BUSY. I feel like everyone is so busy. In our society, it’s almost to the point where we have glorified “business”. Constantly having things to do is like a bragging right and if your schedule isn’t packed, then you are lazy. Wouldn’t it be nice to take a minute and just not do anything? I mean seriously, when is the last time you just did something for yourself as a little bit of a mental break? With school, work, kids, spouses, friends, family, etc, ‘me’ time often gets pushed to the side. Well ladies, it’s time to put yourselves front and center, because if you don’t take care of yourself, how can you take care of anyone else (including all of those tasks on your to-do list!) Here are 5 super simple ways to take a breather and enjoy some time for yourself.
ONE | Read
Grab your favorite book or magazine, kick your shoes off, and spend a little time giving your brain something to think about besides your grocery list or what’s for dinner. If you can schedule daily time to read, it’s even better. Try taking 10 minutes before bed each night to shut off your electronics and focus on your latest page turner. TWO | Stretch
Take a load off of your feet and try some yoga! Not only is it great for your body, but it’s also good for your mind. While you are stretching out, make sure you are focusing on your breathing and try to clear your mind for a few moments.
THREE | Pamper
Get a hair cut, paint your nails (or have them done), get a massage, or just take a nap. Take a few moments to pamper yourself!
FOUR | Breathe
Turn off the tech and kick off your shoes. Close your eyes for a few minutes and just take a deep breath. Sometimes not thinking of anything at all makes getting ahead on your to-do list SO much easier.
FIVE | Drink
I don’t mean alcohol…unless thats your thing (in which case party on!), but pour yourself cup of coffee, make a pot of tea, enjoy a glass of wine, or bring on the margaritas! One of my favorite ways to relax is sitting on our front porch with a cup of coffee.
What is your favorite way to take a little me time?
