Skin Care: The Perfect Regimen

From The Desk Of | Kate | Junior Stylist + Editors’ Assistant

For years I have been at this: attempting to create the perfect cleansing regimen for those with combination skin. And I have FINALLY perfected it (for now). I have tried those clear skin kits that the majority of people swear by- Proactiv, Neutrogena Skin Id & seriously almost any one you can possibly think of…but that never stopped the blemishes, the oil or the blackheads…until now. These four products all work differently; one to exfoliate, one to moisturize, one to brighten and one to lift but all work great together in healing tired skin. NOW two of these products are high end & two are drug store but I am serious about loving all four equally.

I had a really rough time with acne in my teen years so I still struggle with the aftermath aka the scarring. HOWEVER Goldfaden MD Doctor Scrub has seriously worked wonders to kick those scars & uneven surfaces to the curb. I am about down to the last bit in the jar and with only about one month of use the difference is impeccable (seriously, this stuff is life changing). Now the Goldfaden MD Doctor Scrub is one of the high end items, $75 a pop but if you need microdermabrasion as bad as I did, this stuff is TOTALLY worth it. When struggling to control my unruly skin I tried natural remedies including herbs & spices and found healing affects of sage in SO many aspects of beauty. THEN I found Burt’s Bees offered a moisturizer with the main ingredient as Clary Sage I had to give it a try. This one is offered for just $18 and worth every penny. The way your face feels after use is great, fresh faced is the perfect way to describe it. Not only does this moisturizer take control of dry rough skin but I have also noticed it helping significantly in fighting blemishes.

Now back to the high end side of beauty products we have Bobbi Browns Brightening Advanced Serum (try to hold your gasps) it’s around $105 a bottle. But with this stuff you seriously put it on your face and notice your skin changing in the mirror, I promise. I really like to use it on top of my face primer and seriously notice my skin tone brighten within seconds. My last discovery comes from Aveeno. It is Aveeno Positively Ageless Firming Night Cream and racks in around $17. Throughout the years of my skin trials and tribulations I have found Aveeno cleansers to work well with soothing skin, so when I found they offered firming products I had to give it a try. I like this cream mainly for the way it feels on my skin-SO smooth. And maybe it’s all in my head but I HAVE to use a cream for firming & this one is on budget and works great!

Now I don’t want to bore you…but I would like to share my results so you understand just how bad my skin was and what it looks like now. For those of you fighting your own skin, I seriously hope this helps!

that`s a really big difference! It sure is lovely when you finally find the right skincare products! I`ve tried sooo many different kinds, but I`ve (at last) found that Clinique products suits my skin best.

Many parents underestimate the sensitivity of their child’s skin. While it may be tempting to save money and use the same dry skin care products on your baby’s skin as you would on your own, this can cause serious problems. Imagine using bar soap on the sensitive skin of your face as compared to a specialty product designed for the chemistry of your skin. It would likely end up causing you a great deal of discomfort. The same thing would happen to your baby’s skin if you were to consistently use products geared for adults to cleanse it. An unhappy baby can be a very loud baby, and dry skin can make babies incredibly unhappy.’
