Tadashi Shoji’s spring 2013 collection debuted at New York Fashion Week this past Thursday to rave reviews. The classic silhouettes, flattering fits, and beautiful lace is a Tadashi mainstay that always works.
(Side note: I bought my first Tadashi dress 6 years ago for a wedding and it is so classic I still wear it now and it doesn’t look dated. I love a line that can do that.)
Mr. Shoji’s inspiration for this show was travel. From California to Venetian inspired embroidered sheath dresses, the inspiration he draws from always seems to lead him to truly amazing, original looks.
Here are a few of my favorite pieces.
I asked Mr. Shoji to tell me about the collection in his own words after the show, and here’s what he said:
“This is all about the modern woman. From Venice to China, mixing all the elements, prints and embroidery – we take all of these things, and put it together. We embroider our own prints and everything is our own.”
I can’t wait to see these dresses on a red carpet soon!
