Mara Hoffman‘s Spring 2013 collection debuted yesterday at New York Fashion Week at the Lincoln Center tents. Per usual, I left this show wanting to go on an exotic vacation!! This time, the imaginary trip I’m taking is to Hawaii.
It even said “Aloha!” on the programs! Models donned happy prints and colors, with large palm frond accessories. Hair was micro-crimped as a more updated version of the usual beach waves. Nails were painted in an ombre blue, as they were inspired by the waves of the ocean. The vibe at this show was very laid back and Hawaiian breezy.
Here are some of my favorite pieces.
If I wore these on vacation I would wear the two piece separates while shopping and lounging in a beachside cabana. I’d wear the maxi dresses to tropical-chic dinners with wedges and neon accessories.
Here are some photos from backstage.
You’d better believe I’ll be adding a palm frond to my hair the next time I see one! DIY ALERT! Mara Hoffman always inspires me with something new.
I asked Mara to tell me about the collection in her own words and here’s what she said:
“This season the collection was inspired by Aloha spirit – just keeping it super positive and colorful and bright. We pulled some hawaiian references which were totally inspirational to me. I think we captured that here. Definitely.”
