Sweet Shoppe: Frog Prince Paperie {A Chat With The Designer!}

For over a year now, we have been so luck to have the lovely stylist Paula as a sponsor on cupcakeMAG. She has been a long time resident on our site and we adore her for everything she does. She is truly a beautiful talent when it comes to styling beautiful talent – her creativity still blows us away.

I am super-excited to be able to share our “sit-down” with you to let you get to know Paula and her beautiful sweet shoppe, Frog Prince Paperie.

1.) Please tell us about yourself and your {sweet shoppe}?

After I had my kids, I decided to “retire” from my marketing job and be a stay-at-home mom and enjoy the baby years with my two wonderful children, Madeline (5) and Brennan (2). We were in a very small town at the time, and I found I needed a little more than baby talk all day. So with not much else to do locally, I turned into a work-at-home mom when I started my “part-time” business in March 2010.

Frog Prince Paperie grew out of my son’s 1^st birthday party…… and grew and grew! From just me, Frog Prince has grown to me plus three amazing women that help me day in and day out. We all love helping the DIY party planner add a little kiss of magic to her celebration by providing party printables. Frog Prince also has a website where we like to divvy up inspiration for fabulous DIY party styling and give entertainment tips in general.

2.) Do you have a favorite party you have styled?

Definitely my daughter’s WISH party for her 5^th birthday. It was the party of her dreams, and it was fun watching her be so excited about it! The colors and little details were so feminine and magical, I loved walking around the house that week in all the sparkle.

3.) What is the current bestseller in your Etsy shop?

The Little Birdie Baby Shower complete party set. Birds are a huge trend in baby showers right now, and the soft palette and pretty patterns make it a great seller!

4.) If you could style any party for a celebrity, who would it be and why?

Kate Winslet. She strikes me as a down-to-earth mom with great sense of humor, and my favorite parties are those that are just a little quirky and witty. Styling for someone like that would appreciate that kind of party would be a blast! Plus I’m sure she would insist on flying me to England to get the job done.

5.) What tips do you have for planning a perfect event?

My first tip would be to roll with things when they go wrong! We all aim for perfect, but don’t let small oopsies ruin your enjoyment of your event. Parties are about having fun, after all!

Second, to make your party look more perfect, pick two or three colors (the fewer the better!) and stick to those in a range of tones. It will make everything look cohesive and pleasing to the eye.

6.) What is up next for you and your shop?

We’re in planning for a few great photo-shoots this spring and have a few surprises up our sleeves. There may even be an e-glossy in our future!
