Why we made it a favorite: Because who doesn’t love stylish oven mitts?

Meet Tiffiny. The designer behind one of our favorite Etsy Shops, Tiffiny Designs. We can’t cook without her oh-so-cute oven mitts. Whenever your entertain, your guest can’t get enough of just how fabulous they are. It isn’t often you see cute over mitts right? Well, we found them. And for a great price! What made you begin your shop? 

My brother actually suggested I start an etsy shop. I had been doing custom home decor work for private clients and working with interior designers for a few years and when the economy started changing, I had less and less custom work so I was looking for other alternatives. At about the same time, one of my nieces was really into Barbie dolls and my brother and his wife were complaining about how immodest the ready-made doll clothes were. Having a degree in fashion design, this was right up my alley, so I started my store with modest doll clothes, primarily, and it’s evolved from there.

How long have you been sewing? 
When I was 8 or 9 I think I started sewing. I’m not sure. It’s been a long time, over 30 years.
When you aren’t sewing, what can we find you doing?
When I’m not sewing, I’m probably thinking about sewing, but I love spending time with my family, reading, taking naps, and cooking.
What are some of your other favorite Etsy sites? 
Wow, I have so many! Let’s see, my recent favorites are sparksoffire, sophiemomo, gretchent, funkyshapes, and TheVintageTeacup.
What is your favorite item in your shop? 
I love my teapot cozies. They remind me of great times over tea with dear friends. They’re not big sellers but I have a lot of fun making them.
What is up next for you?
I plan to expand my epatterns, add more decorative pillows to my store and expand my kitchen line. I’ve been working on a year long creative project as well, kind of like “Julie and Julia” and who knows where that will lead. Definitely lots of exciting and unexpected things on my horizon!
