Newest Obsession :: Zinc Door {plus one seriously ahh-mazing giveaway!}

We’ve been buying for the store and designing on behalf of clients for several years and over time, through continued exposure to the latest in modern design our aesthetic slowly shifted from a traditional sensibility to that of a more a clean, minimalistic one. Knowing both industries well, both design and web retail made this business venture an appropriate fit.

{2} How has it been juggling the super-successful Layla Grayce and Zinc Door? 

We launched at the right time (for us) from a business sense. We have the appropriate number of employees available to help us juggle this venture. Our team is our success.

{3} Zinc Door is filled with some pretty incredible finds. Do you have a favorite?Or a few we can find in your home? 

Thank you, we are very proud of the edited and streamlined collection that can be found on Zinc Door.  It’s difficult to select one favorite item or piece, and yet it is a question we are asked regularly.  Due to this popular question, we created a section under each category called “zinc faves we crave” which showcases our favorite pieces in that category.  I own several pieces in my home, but one of my favorite pieces is Oly Studio Willa Bed in dark brown. I grew up dreaming I slept in a four poster pink princess bed.  Although the Willa bed isn’t a “pink” princess bed, it certainly is dreamy!  The four post modern design makes a big statement in my bedroom and the upholstered headboard makes reading in bed, or often in my case working in bed, extremely comfortable.

{4} What do you love about your job? 

Wendy and I feel so blessed to have a “job” we truly love and are passionate about.  We love everything about owning Layla Grayce and Zinc Door.  Owning your own business is full of ups and downs and is much more difficult than it may appear.  But the downs are what help you learn, improve and grow the business.   The relationships we have with our employees, vendors and customers are what make each day feel more like play than work.  The constant search for new product finds and buying trips is probably more of an addiction, then something we love!  Watching our Layla Grayce and Zinc Door community grow through social media on Facebook and Twitter and our blog is something we both love and enjoy.  At the end of the day, creating a place where customers can find a piece they love for their home, and receiving an email, tweet, or phone call sharing their positive buying experience, is the most rewarding part of the business.
