Cupcakes meet Jutta — one oh-so-talented and not to mention lucky lady of the well-know Etsy shop, The Lucky Elephant. Stylish, pretty, good luck and a great accessory all rolled into one. What’s not to love? And of course — the designer Jutta is just as FABulous. We are thrilled to showcase her amazing work and her beautifully beaded bracelets we just can’t get enough of. {1} Tell us about yourself and The Lucky Elephant.

I was born in Germany and currently live in Chicago with my husband and three children. I have always loved anything & everything creative as well as (good luck) elephants – my sweet spot…

The launch of the lucky elephant was one of those things that, in hindsight, feels like it was meant to be. I had just started making jewelry again, was playing around with wrap bracelets and accidentally stumbled upon a cute elephant button one day. I bought the little silver friend, brought him home with me and “the lucky elephant” was born the very next day…

For a few years, I have been involved with Urban Initiatives (www.urbaninitiatives.org), a Chicago based nonprofit organization that runs a health and education soccer program in public schools in Chicago’s most underserved neighborhoods. Very early on I decided that I wanted to continue to support their tremendous work with my business too. 10% of all my proceeds go to Urban Initiatives.

{2} What is your favorite part about building your own brand?

I love that a small, serendipitous idea turned into a successful business that brings me so much joy every day and allows me to do what I love.

{3} Do you have a favorite item in the shop?

Yes, definitely! My absolute No.1 item is my Sundance Mega Wrap!

{4} What are some of your other favorite Etsy shops?

That’s a tough one. There are so many great stores on Etsy – it’s almost impossible to pick. I think I have a pool of about a couple hundred favorites… ;)  LC Vintage Jewelry, Swanky Press, Atutudes, Jenna Bee’s Paper Crafts, CLF by Claire La Faye, Life is Balance and Ribbon Revelry.

{5} When you aren’t working hard on creating the next Lucky Elephant – what can we find you doing?

Doing Mom duty… and reading my favorite cooking magazine DELICIOUS ;)

{6} What’s up next for you + the shop?

I’ve added a new line of braided lucky elephant bracelets to my collection. That’s keeping me busy for now…

  27. I enter giveaways so that I can give my 4 kids things that I never otherwise could- whether it be $10 off code, or a full blown dress, or a package. We bought a new house this summer and we’re really watching what we spend our money on nowadays- and it doesn’t go to buying things that I’d love to have for myself or the kids, at least not full price.   67. Why I could use some luck? Well, ‘luck’y elephant is AMAZING, and I’ve been oogling over her bracelets for a while now. My oldest daughter is really getting into dressing up. I would love to give her a Lucky bracelet and have one to match. It would be a sweet mother-daughter special. :)

I am on the transplant waiting list for a liver 5 hours from here, and I was informed last month that my #s have not been getting me anywhere closer to getting a new liver even though I am not feeling any better.
